The Yorktown Victory Monument.  In typical Congressional fashion, this monument was approved to be built in 1781, but construction was not started until the 100th anniversary of the victory, in 1881.  It was completed in 1884 and stands as a beautiful memorial to the the sacrifices of the soldiers that helped secure out freedom during the American Revolution here at Yorktown, Virginia.
