The Stonewall Jackson Shrine. This is the house in which General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson died from the wounds he suffered at the Battle of Chancellorsville. After being shot by his own men at Chancellorsville, he was brought here to Guinea Station, 21 miles from the battlefield, to recuperate from his wounds and the amputation of his left arm. Unfortunately, as things started to look better for the General, he caught pneumonia, and passed away on May 10, 1863 in a room upstairs in this home. © Mike Lynaugh |
