Kershaw; and enlisted in Camden SC on April 24, 1861, at age 22. He remained with his Company until his capture at Cedar Creek on Oct. 19, 1864. He was released from Point Lookout Prisoner of War Camp (MD) on June 22, 1865 (His Great-Grandson has the Certificate of Release). At the Battle of Gettysburg, T.G. West was a corporal engaged in action on the second day, July 2, at the Stony Hill between the Peach Orchard and the Wheat Field on Rose Farm.
