Final Launch of the Space Shuttle Program - STS-135 Atlantis
Photographer: Mike Lynaugh - July 7 & 8, 2011

On July 8, 2011 the Space Shuttle Atlantis roared off the launch pad and skyward towards the International Space Station for the final time.  Not only was this flight the final launch for Space Shuttle Atlantis, this launch marked the end of the Space Shuttle Program.  NASA has begun their transition to a new heavy lift rocket system that will take astronauts beyond low Earth orbit in the future.  NASA is hoping to begin testing their new rockets in 2016, however until that point, America's manned space program is on hold.  I was very honored to be present at the NASA press site to record the final launch of the Space Shuttle. It was an experience I will never forget!

I wanted to thank Mike "Bloke" Robinson and Allard Beutel for helping me be a part of this amazing event and record history, it is something I will never forget.
