The Sutherlin Mansion, this home is known as the "Last Capital of the Confederacy" because of the fact that the Confederate government moved into this home in Danville, Virginia after having to evacuate Richmond towards the end of the Civil War.  Jefferson Davis made this house his home for a week before they had to continue escaping to the south after General Lee surrendered to General Grant not too far away at Appomattox Court House, Virginia.
