The Cicadas are back. Once every 17 years in the Washington, D.C. area the Brood X version of the cicada surface from the ground and infest the area so they can mate for approximately a month and a half then they die and the new infant cicadas go back underground and surface 17 years later. In the Washington, D.C. area there can be as many as 1,500,000 cicadas within a square mile.
